From All of Us Birthday Card
The saying goes, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Use these words as your inspiration for a DIY birthday card with this card making tutorial for the From All of Us Birthday Card. Nothing is as thoughtful as a homemade card, and if you are looking for card making ideas, this beautiful card design is a fabulous way to show someone you care, even if they are far way. This DIY card is a lovely way that you can bridge the thousands of kilometers separating loved ones on their special day.
Materials:
- 6” x 8.2” gray cardstock
- 3.7” x 5.4” blue cardstock
- sheet of ordinary white printer paper
- turquoise blue self-adhesive floral scrap-booking border sticker
- 3 butterflies cut from a second turquoise blue floral scrap-booking border sticker
- four 0.3” wide rhinestone stickers
- Micia wood-mounted rubber stamp with row of houses
- Micia Old Hand black dye ink pad
- Faber Castell watercolor pencils: blue (447) and maroon (427)
- colored felt-tip pens
- fine paintbrush
- pencil
- ruler
- scissors
- clear-drying craft glue (such as Bostik Clear)
Instructions:
- Apply ink to the stamp and transfer the image onto the white printer paper. Allow to dry thoroughly.
- Use the colored felt-tip pens to add color to the stamped image.
- Use the watercolor pencils to color the sky. Use a slightly wet paintbrush to make the colors of the sky flow together.
- Cut the colored image to a size of 5.1” x 3.1”.
- Score the gray cardstock in half to create a card sized 6” x 4.1”.
- Cut a zigzag pattern on one of the longer sides of the blue cardstock. The zigzag should be 0.3” wide and should have 7 triangles in total.
- With the fold at the top, centre and glue the blue cardstock to the front of the card. The zigzag pattern should be at the bottom.
- Glue the colored image to the front of the card.
- Add the turquoise blue scrap-booking border sticker below the colored image and cut off any protruding edges.
- Add the three butterflies and the rhinestone stickers

This card can be used for many occasions! I can see it used as a smiles across the miles card, I'm missing you card, a house warming card or a birthday card as suggested. I love the streetscape scene stamp! I think it might have faired better on a heavier piece of water color card stock. This is especially true when using a medium like the watercolor pencils. The other change I'll make on my own card will be to leave the bottom center butterfly and two center gem stones off and instead place a sentiment. Thanks for sharing!!!
