I tried this and it was hard to cut uniformly just like paper doilies, so I think a light weight paper would work better. Two more things I think it would have worked better if I had started with a square instead of rectangle and the other thing is to make sure to make enough pleats so the sides touch when the snowflake is unfolded.

These are a step above the average paper snowflake, with their 3-D look. I would love to try these and hang them in my windows as a winter decoration. They would also make a very cute garland to drape over the fireplace mantel or to add to the top of a window. I might add some glitter glue to them for added sparkle! Thanks for sharing what looks to be a fairly simple design, easy to recreate in our home.

I love the idea of making pleats so it gives some depth to the snowflakes. It makes them seem to pop off the surface. I have not seen any snowflake crafts that use this method. What's even better is the fact that it takes very few items to make the snowflakes. Great idea!

Very neat idea. Looking thru the instructions, it looks fairly easy too. I think doing them in different colors would be great. Gold or silver paper would look wonderful. Maybe a little glitter added tooi would tie one on a bow on a gift as an added embellishment too. Thanks for sharing this idea and instructions.
